Team Description: | The RoboScout team is Base Ten’s entry into competition. A group of software and hardware engineers under the leadership of Ferdinand Zoller (General Manager of Base Ten Systems GmbH) will demonstrate a “Satellite On The Move” SOTM Land Robotic System. Our vehicle is called KLT (Kommunikations- und Lenkungs Träger) and based on a new unique design of the frame, suspension and steering system. The drive by wire system for the front wheels is controlled via an actuator computer and driven by a vehicle computer. The KLT has among other sensors two video cameras on board. This video information is relayed via a satellite link to a remote ground station. This station allows the steering of the vehicle from an operator up to more than 1000 km distance. The modings for the vehicle are: pre-planned and SOTM as well as direct hardware link controlled. The development of the KLT system began in May 2005. At the time the of the initial team application, the vehicle is largely functional and has logged dozens of SOTM miles along a test course. |
