Team Description:

The Programme Unit "Tactical UAV" of the Business Unit "Military Aircraft" within the Division "Defence and Security Systems" of the EADS Deutschland GmbH teamed up together with the Steinbeis Transferzentrum ARS, Würzburg and the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg to present at the ELROB 2006 the MOBROB.
The MOBROB is being developped under a contract of the German BWB. The vehicle platform is based on the MERLIN™ (Mobile Experimental Robots for Locomotion and Intelligent Navigation) of the Steinbeis Transferzentrum ARS.

The MOBROB is a man portable UGV with a total weight of less than 25 kg. It is designed for remote controlled fast reconnaissance missions with a range of up to 1000 m. To enhance the system performance obstacle detection and autonomous drive assistance capabilities will be implemented.

The development of the MOBROB system began in April 2004. At the time of the initial team application, the system is still in development. The Outdoor MERLIN™ platform with basic drive assistance capabilities has been tested without paylod with a speed of up to 40 km/h.
