Team Information: MERLIN

Team Description:

The Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg teamed up together with the Steinbeis Transferzentrum ARS, Würzburg to present at the ELROB 2006 the Outdoor MERLIN. MERLIN™ (Mobile Experimental Robots for Locomotion and Intelligent Navigation) stands for a family of mobile robots (in tracked and wheeled versions), which have been developed about 10 years ago in the framework of the European Mars Rover activity on behalf of the European Space Agency ESA. Here it served as platform to test various sensor configurations for navigation, as well as for teleoperations aspects for planetary rovers.

Several versions of these robust vehicles had meanwhile been adapted to a broad spectrum of needs, ranging from tele-education to emergency support systems for firefighters.
